What is Organizational Development and Effectiveness?
Too often, when you hear Org Dev the first thing that comes to mind is generally a HR team – but it is so much more than that. Organizational Effectiveness (OE) is the process and measure of a company’s ability to meet their organizational goals. Pretty simple, right? Although it’s only one word off, Organizational Development (OD) is thought of as a separate discipline from Organizational Effectiveness (OE).
Given that the definition of Org Development encompasses “helping organizations achieve greater effectiveness,” it doesn’t make much sense to separate these two items. Effectiveness is defined as ‘the power to produce a desired result.’ Similarly, Org Effectiveness is defined as the process and measurement of a company’s ability to meet their organizational goals.
